Saxon
Math 87 - Marilyn Mathis
This course is for students who have
skilled knowledge of: all operations of fractions, decimals, geometric shapes, ratios and proportions, and pattern and problem
solving skills. This course will be taught using Saxon Math 87 3rd edition and Dr. Shormann's DIVE CD. Under parental
supervision and with the use of DIVE CD's, students will need to complete weekly homework assignments. Weekly quizzes
and tests will be given, graded, corrected, and questions answered during class. Students will need to purchase the
Saxon Math 87 3rd edition text, test forms, Solutions Manual, and the DIVE CD. I have a placement test available for
any students who ($5 charge). Tuition will be $45/month for 10 months. Class time will be 90

Algebra I – Marilyn Mathis
This
course teaches the following concepts: Arithmetic and evaluation of expressions involving signed numbers, exponents, and roots;
solutions of equations in one unknown; solutions of simultaneous equations; algebra of polynomials and rational expressions;
word problems requiring algebra for the solution; graphs of a variety of functions; functional notation; quadratic equations;
geometry; statistics; probability. At home, under the supervision of their parents, students will watch their assigned
DIVE CD lectures (see Saxon Math Classes above), complete weekly homework assignments, grade and correct their homework, and
take weekly tests. During class students will take a quiz, grade and correct the weekly tests, and ask any questions
they may have. There will be a quarterly exam in class. Students need to purchase the Saxon Algebra I 3rd edition
textbook, Solutions Manual, tests and the DIVE CD. A placement test is available online. Tuition is $45
per month for

Geometry
– Marilyn Mathis Prerequisite: Algebra 1 or equivalent. The focus of this course is for the
student who has mastered Algebra I or an equivalent course. The study will be inclusive of: angles, bisectors, transversals,
perimeter/area of complex figures, radicals, triangles, axioms/postulates, transformational geometry, and trigonometric functions. Curriculum used is: Math-U-See Geometry. Student kit is $30 + s/h & tax. Supply fee is $10. Tuition is 10 payments of $45.00
